CE 315 Computer Engineering Design and Practice 3 New Course The Computer Engineering major needs its own version of Engineering Design and Practice. Course Description: Students will study the computer engineering design process and complete on or more design projects. The project topics will focus on embedded system hardware and firmware design for specific applications. The course is intended to show how engineers integrate technical knowledge with design concepts, team work, economics, project management, and oral and written communications. Ethics and professionalism in engineering will also be explored. Prerequisites: CE 122 (min grade of C-) AND CE 232 (min grade of C-)
CE  351 Microcontrollers 3 Course Description Study of the typical architecture and internal units of microcontrollers and their application to analog and digital embedded systems and FPGAs. Topics will include: Low-level programming in C, instruction and register sets and input/output for a given microcontroller family, interfacing of analog and digital signals and devices, serial communications, interrupts and service routines, process priority, and timing analysis. 
CE  433 Embedded Devices 3 Course format, description and credits Combining the materials from CE 444 into CE 433 and adding a lab. This is a hands-on, learn-by-doing course that trains students to build solutions to real-world problems using embedded systems. The course uses a bottom-up approach to problem-solving, building gradually from simple interfacing of switches and LEDs to complex concepts like display drivers, digital to analog conversion, analog to digital conversion, graphics interrupts (real-time systems), and communication. Both general principles and practical tips for building circuits and programing microcontrollers with C will be presented. Students will develop debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and software instrumentation.

ESCI 475 Advanced Topics in Environmental Science 3 New Course Course allows upper division students to integrate scientific fundamentals as they apply to problems and issues in Environmental Science. Course Description: This course will explore advanced topics in various areas of Environmental Science. Examples of such topics including ground water geology, environmental engineering, alternative energy systems, advanced conservation biology, and ecological effects of climate change.  Prerequisites: ESCI 100 (min grade of C-) AND BIO 113 (min grade of C-) AND CHEM 151 (min grade of C-)and GEOL 105 (min grade of C-)
ESCI 476 Advanced Topics in Environmental Science w/ lab     Course allows upper division students to integrate scientific fundamentals as they apply to problems and issues in Environmental Science. Course Description: This course will explore advanced topics in various areas of Environmental Science. Examples of such topics include instrumental analysis of environmental contaminants, ecological sampling, geomorphology, and microbiological methods for environmental remediation. The accompanying laboratory may include access to gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, atomic emission spectrometry, quantification of geomorphic data, polymerase chain reaction, gel electrophoresis, and site directed mutagenesis.
ESCI 496 Senior Seminar I 3 New Course This course will be the first half of a year-long research-based capstone in the new Environmental Science Degree. Prerequisites: BIO 245 AND CHEM 365 AND GEOG 310 AND one CO2.

LIB 450 Internship in Information Management 3 New Course Experiential learning incorporating principles of information organization and management into self-directed projects in the Red Library related to individual student’s interests and field of study. Student develops 21st century skills easily transferred across academic disciplines and careers, including project management, accessing and analyzing scholarly material, self-reflecting, collaborative work, professional behavior, process improvement, communication, presentations, and problem solving. MATH 302 Point-Set Topology 3 New Course We propose this course as a replacement to current MATH 301. Course Description: This course introduces students to point-set topology. MU  307 Women’s Choir 1 New Course
Women’s Choir is an auditioned choir made of music majors and non-majors. This ensemble will provide singers with an opportunity to prepare and present varied music composed for the women’s choir or treble ensemble from the major stylistic periods with the intent of serving composer, performers and listeners by performing choral music of the highest possible quality. It will include the study and performance of diverse musical expressions that represent a variety of historical and cultural prespectives.
