SW 225 - Catholicism in the Southwest This course covers the influential role Catholicism has played in shaping the American Southwest. Although Catholicism’s historical roots will be studied, the focus will be on the nineteenth century to the present. Catholicism in the Southwest, then, seeks to trace how Catholicism, with its distinct world view and religious practices has structured religious-cultural, social, political and economic life in the region.
