MU 132 - Ear Training and Sight Singing I This course teaches you basic musicianship and increases your understanding of tonal harmony. You learn to recognize and reproduce basic musical intervals, melodies, rhythms. Knowledge is demonstrated through written and aural assignments and by singing in group and solo settings for the class and instructor. A basic understanding of music notation is highly encouraged. Non-music majors/minors may take this course with instructor approval only.

Program Restriction: Must be a declared major, pre-major, or minor in Music, Music Performance, Music Business, Music Education, Musical Theatre, or Music Minor.
Notes: A placement exam will be administered the first day of class to help determine your current skill set. You may be advised to enroll in MU 120 – Music Fundamentals instead if you don’t yet have the skills to be successful in this course.
