The Peace and Conflict Studies Minor provides an interdisciplinary study of peace, war, international relations, and conflict resolution. The minor seeks to build analytical skills that can be applied to a range of situations. It is designed for those interested in careers in conflict resolution, management, public relations, nonprofit organization work, social work, and adventure education. Through core courses, students become familiar with concepts such as positive and negative peace, nationalism, nation building, globalization, and conflict resolution strategies including practical experiences in negotiation and mediation. In elective courses, students explore issues of environmental ethics, international relations, and social justice through a variety of courses and disciplines.
No more than one course from the major department will count toward any minor. A student majoring in any discipline may complete the Peace and Conflict Studies Minor upon satisfactorily completing the following requirements listed on the Peace and Conflict Studies Minor page.
