The Department of Modern Languages offers a major and minor in Spanish. Through the five skills areas of reading, writing, speaking, comprehension, and culture, students learn to communicate effectively in a range of environments while learning about Spanish-speaking countries, literatures, and traditions. We encourage our students to study abroad in their choice of program and country, and support learning with an active language lab, computer-based language programs, music, film, and a range of cultural events. Often, during the summer, there are programs that provide opportunities for students to travel and study abroad with their classmates and faculty.
