REQUIREMENTS FOR A BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE WITH A MAJOR IN ANTHROPOLOGY:


Liberal Arts Core - Credits: 39

Subtotal Specific Departmental Requirements - Credits: 27-28


Additional Anthropology coursework:


Students must take a total of five additional courses, one from each of the “Anthropology Subdisciplinary Explorations” and two from “Anthropology Electives.”  Three of the total five courses must be upper-division, and each course must be at least 3 credit hours. NOTE: ANTH 316 : Internship in Anthropology may NOT be used to fulfill additional anthropology coursework (but may count towards general college electives).
 

Anthropology Subdisciplinary Explorations:


Each student must take one course from each of the following 3 categories.  Courses taken in fulfillment of the above core requirements may not be used to fulfill subdisciplinary explorations:

Anthropology Electives-Credits 6-14


Students must take any two Anth-prefixed courses not already taken in fulfillment of the above requirements.  Anth 316 does not count.  These courses must be at least 3 credit hours each.

Total Additional Anthropology-Credits: 15-29


STRONGLY RECOMMENDED:


At least 4 semesters of a second language.

Total Major Requirements - Credits: 42-57


Free Electives: 24-39


TOTAL REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION - CREDITS: 120*


* Among the minimum 120 credits required for the degree, 45 credits must be upper-division (300- and 400-level) courses.
