Specific Departmental Requirements:

Primary Concentration (includes Senior Seminar) - Credits: 30
15 credits must be upper division.
Two Secondary Concentrations - Credits: 24
12 credits each. A total of 12 of the 24 credits must be upper division.

Auxiliary Core Requirements:

Two semesters of one college-level modern language - Credits: 6-8

OPTIONAL TRACKS:

Community Engagement Track

Must satisfy the core and auxiliary Liberal Studies requirements plus:

HON 250 - Community of Scholars Credits: 1 (1 credit)
Two CBLR-designated course sections (6-8 credits)

Subtotal Community Engagement Track - Credits: 7-9

Honors Track

Must satisfy the core and auxiliary Liberal Studies requirements plus:

Three Honors Forums, stand alone or learning community [6 credits total] (may not be HON 250 ; one course must be 400-level)
A CO-3 level course (preferably HON 350 ) [3 credits]

History

All courses in the Department of History are appropriate for the Humanities concentrations in History.

Modern Languages:

In addition to all Modern Languages courses, ED 333 is allowed. Spanish, French, or German allowed as primary concentration. Spanish, French, German, Japanese, or Navajo allowed as secondary concentration. Note: Students with a primary concentration in Spanish may complete ML 496 or ML 431 to satisfy the senior seminar requirement.

Music:

For a primary concentration, students must take MU128, MU129, MU331, MU332,and MU496 (18 hours total). The remaining 12 hours may be chosen from MU 109,209, 309, 409, 228, 229, 336, 342, and 415.

For a secondary concentration, students must take Mu 331 and 332 required; all additional credits must be chosen from among:

MU 120 - Fundamentals of Music Credits: 3
MU 128 - Theory and Musicianship I Credits: 5
MU 129 - Theory and Musicianship II Credits: 5
MU 228 - Theory and Musicianship III Credits: 5
MU 229 - Theory and Musicianship IV Credits: 5

Philosophy

All courses in the Department of Philosophy are appropriate for the Humanities concentrations in Philosophy.

Political Science:

* PS 492 - Political Science Internship Credits: 3-16
Does not count

Psychology:

No more than a combined total of six credits in psychology from off-campus coursework or Innovative Month or independent study (Psyc 299/Psyc 499) may be counted toward a primary or secondary concentration.

The following courses are required if Psychology is used as a primary concentration.
