Interdisciplinary Studies Major - General Option

The ISM general option is structured to promote the acquisition of a broad range of content area knowledge in math, science, social sciences, and language arts. Students who are interested in this broad content preparation do not seek a teaching license and do not apply to be admitted to the Teacher Education Licensure Program.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE WITH A MAJOR IN INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES - GENERAL OPTION
Content Course Requirements:
Mathematics - Complete the following for a minimum of 9 credits:
Math courses may be chosen from any FLC college-level math or statistics courses or any courses from the MA1 category of the Liberal Arts Core. Language Arts - Complete the following for a minimum of 12 credits:
Language Arts courses may be chosen from the following FLC courses: Soc 376 , Thea 323 , any modern or foreign language course, any course with an ENGL prefix, OR any course from AH1, AH2, or AH4 Social Studies - Complete the following for a minimum of 12 credits:
American History course - Credits: 3-4
American History course must be chosen from the following list: Elective Courses in Social Studies - Credits: 6-8
Social Studies elective course must be chosen from the following: FLC courses with ANTH, ECON, GEOG, HIST, PS, SOC or SW prefixes or any courses from HI1, SS1, SS2 or SS3. Science - Complete the following for a minimum of 10 credits:
Choose from the following list of at least two disciplines and at least one course including a lab:
- Any FLC courses with BIO, CHEM, GEOL, PHSC, or PHYS prefixes; or any courses from SC1 or SC2.
Senior Seminar Requirement - Credits: 2-4
- Any FLC Senior Seminar course (any subject with a course number of 496).
Subtotal Content Course Requirements - Credits: 45
