HIST 271 - Latin America since Independence An examination of the major cultural and political developments in Latin America from the late 18th century to the present. The course will focus, by necessity, on the larger and more influential countries of the region in an attempt to identify and understand historical patterns common to all areas. Recommended as a foundation course in 19th and 20th century Latin American history.
