HIST 181 - U.S. Environmental History This course explores environmental history of U.S. from failure of Jamestown, VA settlement (1607) through Manifest Destiny, westward expansion, and end of the frontier in 1890. Students learn about conservation and environmental movements and public land legislation, up to modern American issues of sustainability. Case studies will focus on environmental history on the Colorado Plateau.
