PHIL 281 - Theory of Knowledge This course in epistemology explores philosophical controversies concerning knowledge and skepticism: What is truth? What is it for a belief to be justified? What can we know? Does knowledge represent objective reality or merely a culturally constructed concept of reality? Traditional and current answers to these questions are evaluated through a study of the great works in epistemology by Plato, Descartes, Locke, Hume, Russell, and many contemporary philosophers.
