BIO 460 - Immunology A comprehensive introduction to the mechanisms of disease resistance and immunopathology. Topics include self/non-self discrimination, inflammation and innate immune mechanisms, antibody structure and function, immune cells/cell subsets and the consequences of immune system failure. Application of immunochemical techniques and the immune mechanisms involved in vaccination, pregnancy and fetal development, allergy, autoimmunity, cancer, organ transplantation and AIDS are also discussed.
