ES 203 - Gender and Sport


This course examines how the social and legal concept of gender informs and intersects with competitive sport at various levels. The course tracks the history of gender-based exclusion, inclusion, and discrimination in sport; the creation and development of Title IX; the ways regulatory bodies (like the International Olympic Committee) reflect, construct, and police gender norms; and more.

Credits: 3

Clock Hours - (Lect-Lab): (3-0)

Prerequisites: FLC Writing Placement Score C250 or successful completion of COMP 150  

Minimum Class Standing: Junior

Cross Listed: ES 203 is the same course as GSS 203 ; credit will be given for only one of these courses.
