PHIL 364 - Political Philosophy This course examines the justification and limitation of the authority of government and other social institutions. What is the basis of governmental authority? When is it permissible for a government to use force against its citizens? Students in this course critically examine the work of influential thinkers such as Plato, Aristotle, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Marx, Mill, and Rawls.
