There are three undergraduate majors in Teacher Education:
Early Childhood Education: The Early Childhood Education major focuses on a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to teacher preparation. This major is for students who plan to earn a Colorado teaching license in Early Childhood to teach in public or private schools with young children Preschool through 3rd grade. Every student will spend at least 800 hours in early childhood school settings including one full semester in their senior year as a full time student teacher.
Elementary Education: The Elementary Education major focuses on a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to teacher preparation. This major is for students who plan to earn a Colorado teaching license in Elementary Education to teach in public or private schools with young children Kindergarten through 6th grade. Every student will spend at least 800 hours in elementary school settings including one full semester in their senior year as a full time student teacher.
Interdisciplinary Studies Major - General Option: Students who are interested in obtaining a broad range of coursework in math, science, social sciences and language arts and still interested in a career in educational related careers. This option does not lead to a teaching license.
