Plant Identification and Assessment Certificate


The certificate in Plant Identification and Assessment gives students the opportunity to learn vascular plant identification via sight id and through the use of taxonomic keys, understand specialized botanical terminology, learn about modern resources and techniques for documenting plant biodiversity, learn the specific nature of plant species, be introduced to botanical and terrestrial ecological sampling methodology, and the specific management and conservation requirements of plants.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A PLANT IDENTIFICATION AND ASSESSMENT CERTIFICATE


A student majoring in any discipline may complete a Plant Identification and Assessment Certificate upon satisfactory fulfilling the core and elective requirements. 

Note: A grade of C or better is required in all courses required for the certificate.

TOTAL REQUIRED FOR CERTIFICATE - CREDITS: 16


Prior to course registration, students should review all courses for prerequisites, minimum prerequisite grade requirements and minimum class standing.

Note: At least 50% of the coursework toward the certificate must be earned at Fort Lewis College.
