AE 441 - Professional Avalanche Level One This course covers topics essential to the snow and avalanche workplace including identifying and characterizing avalanche terrain, understanding how avalanches form and release, collecting and analyzing weather, snow, and avalanche data, and communicating hazard and risk factors. Students conduct daily operational forecast meetings, apply effective communication strategies, and debrief field observations and decisions. Successful completion of exams will result in PRO 1 avalanche certificate from the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE).

Clock Hours - (Lect-Lab): (1-4)
Prerequisites: GEOG 235 (minimum grade of C) AND AE 343 (minimum grade of C) AND GEOL 470 (minimum grade of C)
Minimum Class Standing: Junior
