The Art Program promotes both professional and liberal arts learning outcomes by developing students’ art making and professional skills along with an understanding of the historical and contemporary role of art in the larger society.  Students become adept in design, visual communication, problem solving, critical analysis, and creative production.  Four options within the major allow students to focus their studies according to individual interest and professional goals.

The Business Art option combines courses in studio art, art history, and business.  The Graphic Design option prepares students to be professional graphic designers.  The Art K-12 Teaching option includes training in a variety of art disciplines plus teaching methods.  The Art option allows students to focus on studio art.

Students can also choose to minor in art or art history
