The Native American and Indigenous Studies program centers its course work on the experiences of Native Americans, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and First Nations Peoples.

Our curriculum acknowledges and is centered upon the worldviews of Indigenous nations, peoples, and communities. Additionally, through engaging classroom activities, with a focus on verbal and written communication, we critique colonialism and its impact upon tribal sovereignty, governance, and self-determination.

The foundational knowledge and methodologies in the NAIS program  gives students the skills to engage with and seek future careers in tribal, state, and national levels of government, in the professional fields of education, law, and heritage preservation, as well as a multitude of careers that benefit and are unique to Indigenous communities.

A minor in Native American and Indigenous Studies  is available to students majoring in other disciplines.
