REQUIREMENTS FOR A BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE WITH A MAJOR IN ANTHROPOLOGY:
Specific Departmental Core Requirements:
Subtotal Specific Departmental Requirements - Credits: 27-28
Additional Anthropology coursework:
Students must take a total of five additional courses, one from each of the three “Subdisciplinary Explorations” categories, and two from “Anthropology Electives”. Three of the total five courses must be numbered 300 or above, and each course must be at least 3 credits. Anthropology Subdisciplinary Explorations:
Each student must take one course from each of the following three categories. 1. Archaeology 4-7 credits
2. Sociocultural and Linguistic Anthropology 3-6 credits
3. Biocultural and Applied Anthropology 3-4 credits
Subtotal Subdisciplinary Explorations - Credits: 9-17
Anthropology Electives
Students must take any two Anth-prefixed courses not already taken in fulfillment of the above requirements. These courses must be at least 3 credit hours each. Subtotal Electives - Credits: 6-14
Total Major Requirements - Credits: 43-59
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED:
At least 4 semesters of a second language. Free Electives (variable)
TOTAL REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION - CREDITS: 120*
* Among the minimum 120 credits required for the degree, 45 credits must be upper-division (300- and 400-level) courses.
