Theatre Major - Secondary Drama Teaching Option


The Theatre - Secondary Drama Teaching Option gives high-quality academic and practical preparation to students who wish to become Colorado licensed grades 7-12 theatre teachers. Students who complete this option become licensed to teach theatre in grades 7-12. Students choosing this option should consult a Theatre Department advisor as early as possible in their academic career, and should read the Teacher Education section of this catalog for the steps and requirements for applying to the Teacher Education Licensure Program.

Note: Among the minimum 120 credits required for the degree, 45 credits must be upper-division (300- and 400-level) courses.

**Students may complete this degree within the 126-credit maximum, but to do so they must use courses from the major to complete certain Liberal Arts Core requirements (e.g., Thea 101, Thea 126, Thea 240, and ED 222). Using these courses to meet both major and Liberal Arts Core requirements enables the student to complete within the 126-credit limit.Note to all students: If you have taken any of the major requirements and received a different number of credits than listed above, you may need to complete additional major credit requirements.
