The Economics degree program is one of the five degree programs offered in the School of Business Administration (SOBA).
The School of Business Administration offers two degree options for students pursuing studies in Economics. Both Economics options prepare students for graduate studies in economics as well as employment in business and finance. The study of economics also provides a good background for students who want to prepare for a career in law. These programs lead to a degree in either Business Economics Option or Economics Option . Students may major in only one of the Economics options.
The Economics major - Economics Option focuses primarily on economic principles and is designed to provide students with an understanding of the present economic system and how economics relates to other disciplines and fields of study. The major is designed for students who desire to study economics but do not wish to take all of the common requirement courses prescribed for Business Administration majors. Students majoring in Economics will have the flexibility to pursue minors in other areas as well as preparing for teaching certification. The Economics option is excluded from the AACSB International School of Business Administration accredited degree programs.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE WITH A MAJOR IN ECONOMICS - ECONOMICS OPTION:

TOTAL REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION - CREDITS: 120
Note to transfer and former students: If you have taken any of your major requirements and received a different number of credits than listed above, you may need to complete additional major credit requirements. If any of the upper division economics courses required for the major have been completed elsewhere and transferred into Fort Lewis College at less than four credit hours, the student must take additional upper division economics credits to meet the minimum of 26 credit hours of upper division courses needed for a major in Economics.
1 An upper-division Economics course used to satisfy the Economics option may not be used to satisfy any other major, minor, or option within SOBA, except that an Economics course used to satisfy the Economics option may be used to satisfy the 300- or 400-level Economics requirement in the Business Administration major. |
