Candidates for the certificate must complete the 18-credit curriculum specified for the program, with a minimum of 12 credits earned at Fort Lewis College; earn a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 and earn a minimum C grade in each course; be in good standing with the department’s Graduate Professional Education Review Committee in terms of professionalism and ethical behavior.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN INITIAL LICENSURE K-12 EDUCATION

Note: A grade of C- or better is required in all courses required for the certificate

ED 605 - Field-Based Practicum Credits: 1-3 - minimum 3 credits
ED 611 - Engaging Learning Environments I Credits: 3
ED 612 - Teaching and Learning for Equity Credits: 3
ED 613 - Content Methods Credits: 3
ED 615 - Student Teaching Credits: 1-5 - minimum 5 credits
ED 621 - Engaging Learning Environments II Credits: 3
ED 623 - Content Literacy Credits: 3

TOTAL REQUIRED FOR CERTIFICATE - CREDITS: 23

Prior to course registration, students should review all courses for prerequisites, minimum prerequisite grade requirements and minimum class standing.

Note: At least 50% of the coursework toward the certificate must be earned at Fort Lewis College.
