CHEM 460 - Synthesis and Spectroscopy This is a laboratory course in advanced synthesis techniques, with emphasis on the synthesis of organic and organometallic compounds. Students employ advanced methods of purification and structure elucidation, and spectroscopic methods that emphasize FT-NMR techniques. Students also familiarize themselves with the primary literature on synthesis. Students design research projects, allowing them to engage in a directed exploration of synthesis techniques and the identification of reaction products.
