HIST 361 - Czarist Russia A study of the Russian past before the revolutions of 1917 in order to understand the events, personalities, ideas, and key challenges of ruling the sprawling Russian Empire. Topics include Kievan Rus, the legacy of the Mongol invasion, the rise and fall of the Romanov dynasty, and the drive to catch up with the West.
